For sale is th is antique pair of faux tortoiseshell lorgnettes. I believe they are made from bakelite or a similar early plastic. My guess is they were made some time between 1910 and 1930. Unusually, they come with their original black leather covered case and a silver chain so you can hang them around your neck. I believe the chain is solid silver and French in origin. The first link is hallmarked in two places. I believe one of these is a "bicorne" mark, but both marks are so small, I can't make them out, even with a loup.
But I bought them in Paris this August. The lorgnettes closed are about 10 inches in length. The case is about 9 1/2 inches in length. The silver chain is about 25 1/2 inches in length and weighs 17.8 grams. The lenses are of weak/medium strength and good for reading. All three are in good condition apart from 2 repaired breaks in the handle of the lorgnettes which I have photographed, as well as some chips in the handle. The repairs seem solid and the lorgnettes seem stable. Please refer to photos and feel free to ask questions. The items I sell are fully guaranteed to be as I have described them.
